It has been nearly nine years since Fallout 4 graced store shelves, and while most gaming franchises would be preparing for another entry by now, Fallout fans have grown accustomed to waiting. The long-anticipated Fallout 5 is officially in development, but Bethesda has been clear about the timeline. With The Elder Scrolls 6 being the studio's current priority, the next Fallout entry won’t enter full development until after ES6 is completed, meaning Fallout 5 won’t arrive until 2030 at the earliest. Despite this lengthy wait, there’s still plenty for fans to enjoy in the Fallout universe in the meantime.
Fallout 76 Continues to Evolve
Though Fallout 76 initially launched in a buggy and unfinished state, it has come a long way over the past six years. Winning this year's Game Award for Best Adaptation, the show’s debut season was a hit with both fans and critics alike.
Given its success, Amazon quickly greenlit a second season, which entered production in November 2024. Filming for Season 2 is expected to wrap by April 2025, with a focus on the fan-favorite location of New Vegas. While fans will have to wait a bit longer for the second season, it promises to be well worth the wait.
Although Fallout 5 might be several years away, there’s no shortage of content for Fallout fans to dive into. With Fallout 76 continuously evolving and the Fallout TV show enjoying massive success, fans have plenty to keep them engaged until the next big entry in the series. The Fallout universe is far from dormant, and there's still much to look forward to in the coming years.
